TSA Security

Security procedures at Fort Wayne International Airport are done by TSA (Transportation Security Administration). FWA tries to make traveling as stress-free as possible, but the security check is crucial for safety.

FWA Administration recommends arriving at the airport 90 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. If the passenger is flying Allegiant thenthey recommend two hours prior to departure. Every passenger must measure their Carry-on bags. It must be approximately 22" x 14" x 9," and the weight should be no more than 30 pounds. Carry-on bags should measure about 22" x 14" x 9" and should weigh no more than 30 pounds. Every passenger is limited to one carry-on bag plus one personal item, such as a purse, backpack, or laptop bag.

Some items are not allowed from being brought on airplanes in carry-on and checked bags, including aerosol insecticide, alcohol, lighters, baseball bats, and many more. Gels and liquids packed in carry-on luggage must be limited in quantity and follow the 3-1-1 rule - 3.4 ounces’ bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, zip-top bag. At the security desk, every passenger will be asked to remove electronic devices more significant than a cell phone from a

carry-on suitcase and to put them into a bin with other objects placed on or under them for X-ray screening.


Every Adult passenger 18 or over is obliged to provide valid identification at the airport checkpoint to travel. Identification forms include: driver’s license or state photo identity cards by Department of Motor Vehicles, U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, U.S. Department of Defense ID, including I.D.s issued to dependents, Border crossing card, State-issued Enhanced Driver's License, Federally recognized, tribal-issued photo I.D., Foreign government-issued passport, DHS trusted traveler cards, the full list is at the TSA website.
